Career/Education Fair
Federally Employed Women (FEW) invites you to participate
in a Career/Education Fair in conjunction with its exciting
39th National Training Program (NTP). Don 't miss this outstanding
opportunity to highlight your agency, college, or university
to thousands of individuals while at the same time supporting
a high-quality, affordable educational opportunity through
Federally Employed Women’s (FEW’s) 2008 NTP.
Purpose
This event will provide NTP participants with valuable
tools, materials, insights, and guidance for a better understanding
of their educational and career choices. The Career/Education
Fair is an excellent way to assist agencies, colleges, and
universities with their strategic recruitment and planning
when searching for prospective employees and students. This
year FEW is adding a workshop entitled, “How to Get
a Federal Job.” Who can benefit from participating
in FEW’s annual Career/Education Fair?
- An agency with specific vacancy announcements, open announcements
for hard-to-fill positions, promotional opportunities, details, and
temporary assignments for permanent federal employees. This is an excellent
opportunity for agencies seeking to meet their human capital initiatives
and strategic goals by addressing mission-critical occupations that
seek to attract, acquire, develop, and retain quality talent.
A two or four-year accredited college or university
that is a premier learning institution in the local Anaheim,
California area whose students are among the best-prepared
and most knowledgeable in the world—a college or university
that offers credit programs and continuing education courses
in a variety of formats and supports student development—or
a college or university that promotes excellence and innovation
in education as well as a commitment to the advancement of
women.
Target Audience
A Career/Education Fair brings together individuals seeking opportunity
whether it’s in employment or higher education and provides a forum
for networking and making contacts.
-
Agency Recruiters
-
Individuals seeking employment in
the federal government
-
Academic career/admissions
advisors
-
Students/Potential Students at academic
institutions
Schedule
The workshop entitled “How to Get a Federal
Job” will be held on Monday, July 14, 2008, at
the Hilton Anaheim Hotel, 777 Convention Way, Anaheim,
California 92802 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Career/Education Fair will immediately follow on
Monday, July 14, 2008, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. FEW
will provide a setup of a table and two chairs; your
agency, college, or university is encouraged to bring
a tabletop display and promotional materials.
Other Benefits
For the first time, FEW is offering a special student rate
of $395 for the entire conference. A student must provide
verification that he/she is currently enrolled and carrying
a minimum of six credits per semester. Combining the fair
with other NTP events can result in a savings in travel expenses
for an agency, college, or university since many of the individuals
will already be at the meeting site to attend the NTP. This
offers an opportunity for participants to meet face-to-face,
an invaluable benefit in today’s work climate of limited
travel and heavy dependence on technology for communication.
Agencies can promote their available job listings while colleges
or universities can promote their educational institution
and the academic programs offered.
