    Federal Agencies Show Their Support
    By Anna Rosario

Once again the Headquarters EEO, Civil Rights, and Diversity staffs of the Federal sector showed their support of FEW, the NTP and special emphasis programs by holding Agency Forums on Monday and Tuesday before the NTP.

This year was not business as usual. Agency Forums boasted participation from 19 departments and agencies: Agricultural Marketing Service, Department of Agriculture, Department of Air Force, Department of Army, Department of Commerce, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Department of Interior, Department of Justice, Department of Labor, Department of Navy, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Guard Bureau, National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Transportation Security Administration & Department of Transportation, and U.S. Coast Guard.

Anna Rosario, Agency Forum Team Leader, stated "These phenomenal program leaders brought their staff together from across the country and overseas to discuss issues of nation-wide importance in their civil rights programs." Anna worked closely with the Agency Forum coordinators, establishing an outstanding working relationship to help with the extensive planning process necessary to bring about so many successful meetings.

Forum participants reported that they strengthened their skills and expanded their networking opportunities by being able to meet face-to-face with their counterparts throughout their department. For many, it was the first time they had an opportunity to personally meet their Headquarters leaders.

One participant in the Forums commented on her evaluation form, "This meeting reinforced to me the importance of taking a leadership role in the Federal Women's Program. I can hardly wait to attend my sessions at the NTP and get back to my agency with all the things I've l earned."

Departments and Agencies often use the two days preceding the NTP to bring staff together from across the country and overseas to discuss issues of nationwide importance. These meetings provide agencies an opportunity to update personnel on agency policies and procedures, provide feedback on action items and hot topics, identify problems and develop workable solutions, introduce headquarters staff and field staff to each other, provide a forum to discuss concerns in the field, and serve as an excellent way to allow staff to network with counterparts.

After the agency forums conclude, pre-registered employees continue the learning experience by attending the NTP!
